One on One with Dr. David Parker – The Dyslexia Show – Dyslexia Accommodations for College Students
Part 1 of 2
CRG’s Speaker’s Bureau helps schools, colleges, community agencies and other organizations learn more about children, teens, and adults with disabilities and/or behavioral health issues such as depression and anxiety. Most of our providers are available to give talks and/or conduct trainings on a wide range of topics. We work with you to customize a presentation that combines research-based knowledge with practical strategies and applications. As you plan your group’s professional development events for the year ahead, we invite you to contact Dr. David Parker to discuss your needs.
Dr. Joshua Lowinsky, CRG’s Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist, will continue his active round of professional development trainings around the country in Fall 2021. Dr. Lowinsky’s presentations will include:
October 15-17: Neurology and Psychiatry Primary Care in Napa Valley, CA. His talks will address bipolar disorder, ADHD, substance use disorders, and suicide and violence.
October 22: Indiana State University (virtual presentation) on psychopharmacology case scenarios (ADHD, mood, anxiety, substance use disorders) with a focus on special populations (LGBTQ/Young males of color/ASD)
November 5: Annual Indiana Academy of Physician Assistants Keynote on “Humbling Psychopharmacologic Case Scenarios in Teens and Adults”
December 1: Saint Joseph Hospital Grand Rounds (virtual): ADHD in Adults
Dr. David Parker, CRG’s Postsecondary Disability Specialist and ADHD/Life Coach, has had numerous speaking engagements in Spring and Summer 2021 to share information from his new book, Becoming Self-Determined: Practical Strategies for a Changing World (co-edited with Dr. Sharon Field). Virtual and in-person presentations on practices to support the self-determination and positive mental health of college students have taken place with Nevada AHEAD, Kentucky AHEAD, Landmark College, The University of Connecticut’s Postsecondary Disability Training Institute, and AHEAD’s national conference. This publication is published by AHEAD (https://www.ahead.org/professional-resources/publications/publications-for-sale).
Dr. David Parker is co-facilitating a Community of Practice this fall for college disability service providers through the Association on Higher Education and Disability. Dr. Parker and two co-leaders will help directors of six programs around the country learn how to formally evaluate and grow their coaching services for students with executive functioning issues (ADHD, LD). As more and more campuses offer coaching to students with and without disabilities, this work is designed to enhance the field’s understand of best practice approaches.
Dr. Joshua Lowinsky is a co-founder of the Primary Care Psychiatry Foundation, which provides professional development to medical providers and other professionals on behavioral health issues that can impact mental and physical health. The Foundation’s newest CME conference will be a virtual, asynchronous collection of presentations on the topic, “’Mind Playing Tricks on Me’/Risks and Resiliencies/Growing Up Young Black and Male in America.” For more information or to register, click here.
