What Is Therapy?
The word “therapy” has many meanings and takes different forms. At CRG, many of our providers offer therapy services, including Individual Therapy. All forms of therapy are designed to help people achieve greater insights, develop better coping strategies, or heal emotional wounds as they address personal issues in a confidential, safe environment. Some CRG patients find that therapy services alone are sufficient to meet their needs. Many of our patients, however, find that therapy is an integral part of an overall care plan that might include assessment services, medication management, and even educational services.
Who Can Benefit from Therapy?
Many people can benefit from therapy at different points in their lives. Some individuals who seek therapy have chronic conditions that create ongoing emotional complications. They may benefit from long-term therapy to gain insight and emotional support while developing new ways of thinking or interacting with others. Other people may benefit from short-term therapy after a sudden life event (such as divorce or the death of a loved one) in order to recover and move forward.
What Types of Therapy Services Are Available at CRG?
Our providers are trained in various therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral and Rogerian therapy. We offer therapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. These include individual and family therapy as well as parent consultations, substance abuse counseling, and consultations to provide a second opinion on diagnostic and treatment planning issues. Therapeutic services can be short-term or long-term, depending on the needs and interests of the clients.
There are several ways to identify a CRG therapist who can best meet your needs. If you are new to CRG, you will call and talk to one of our intake coordinators. If you are already a client at CRG, your current provider can make a referral to one of our therapists. In all cases, your personal preferences and needs are highly valued while recommending a specific professional for your consideration.
The initial appointments will be devoted to gathering information and achieving the best possible understanding of the client’s concerns and goals for therapy. At the end of this intake process, the therapist will summarize his/her understanding of the client’s needs. Together, the client and therapist will formulate a treatment plan that includes frequency of sessions, a general idea about the length of treatment, and the type of therapeutic approach that would best meet the client’s needs.
