Tell us more about your professional background and education.
I recently finished my predoctoral psychology training at Indiana University School of Medicine (class of 2017-18). During my time as a psychology resident, I completed rotations in child and adolescent outpatient therapy clinics, pediatric behavioral sleep medicine, pediatric gastroenterology clinics, and a child and adolescent inpatient unit. My responsibilities included diagnostic assessments, psychoeducational evaluations, and providing evidence-based interventions for a range of presenting concerns (including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, tic disorders, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, and trauma-related disorders). Prior to this, as a clinical psychology Ph.D. student at IUPUI, I gained clinical experience in a wide range of settings including the Psychiatry Department at Riley at Indiana University Health, Beacon Psychology Services, Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital, Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, and Pike Township Metropolitan School District.
With respect to my education, I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University, Northridge. I then attended graduate school at IUPUI where I received a Master’s Degree in clinical rehabilitation psychology and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. I’m thrilled to now be joining CRG as a post-doctoral fellow.
What drew you to behavioral health care?
For me, behavioral health care is an area that taps into my strengths as well as my passion for helping others. In particular, I enjoy the critical thinking, creativity, and compassion that are required in behavioral health care and I love knowing that my effort can help make a positive impact in people’s lives.
Why did you choose to create your practice at CRG at this stage in your career?
In thinking about where I wanted to complete my post-doctoral fellowship, there were several characteristics I was hoping to find. First, I hoped to find a multi-disciplinary practice that provided excellent patient care and expertise. Second, I was looking for a practice with experienced clinicians who were willing to mentor and challenge a junior colleague. Third, I wanted to find a practice where it was clear that the providers love what they do and enjoy working with each other. And, finally, I wanted to have the flexibility to balance work and family life. CRG fulfilled all these characteristics and more, and I’m therefore so excited to be part of the CRG team!
What days are you at CRG and when do you see patients?
I’m at CRG Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. I’m currently seeing patients for psychoeducational evaluations.
Tell us more about the kinds of patients you see/plan to see and the types of services you will provide to them. What age ranges?
Presently, I’m conducting psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents to assist with educational planning. I’ll also be gaining expertise in developmental assessments of infants and toddlers.
How would your best friend describe your personality?
I think my best friend would describe me as a thoughtful, caring, sensitive person who has a passion for serving others and is always willing to lend a hand (or ear).
Please tell us anything you’d like us to know about your family and what you enjoy doing during your time away from the office.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter. As a California native who grew up without well-defined seasons, I’ve been appreciative of the variety of weather patterns Indiana has to offer. This fall, my family and I are having an especially fun time visiting pumpkin patches around central Indiana.
