This group is designed for 10-12-year-old boys to facilitate the development and use of social skills. The goal is to assist group members in better understanding others and why social skills are important. The skills are developed through direct instruction, role play, and goal-directed interactions. The content of the group is constantly modified to address the needs of the group members. They will be provided opportunities to practice skills in a low risk environment. They will be encouraged to share experiences with one another and think of new and adaptive ways to handle the situations they perceive as challenging. Outlines of each group are frequently provided to facilitate parents assisting the person to apply the developing skills.
Challengers

This group is designed for 13-15-year-old boys to facilitate the development and use of social skills. The goal is to assist group members in identifying and developing the skills they need for them to engage in more adaptive, successful, and mutually satisfying interactions. We do this through direct instruction, role play, and goal-directed interactions. The content of the group is constantly modified to address the needs of the group members. They will be provided opportunities to practice skills in a low risk environment. They will be encouraged to share experiences with one another and think of new and adaptive ways to handle the situations they perceive as challenging. Outlines of each group are frequently provided to facilitate parents assisting the person to apply the developing skills.
Social Saturdays

Saturdays (11:00 A.M. – 11:50 A.M.) Year Round $70/Session
This group is designed for 8-10-year-old boys to facilitate the development and use of social skills. The goal is to assist group members in identifying why they may want to learn different ways of interacting with others, learning new skills, and practicing those skills. We do this through direct instruction, role play, and goal-directed interactions. The content of the group is constantly modified to address the needs of the group members. They will be provided opportunities to practice skills in a low risk environment. They will be encouraged to share experiences with one another and think of new and adaptive ways to handle the situations they perceive as challenging. Outlines of each group are frequently provided to facilitate parents assisting the person to apply the developing skills.
Girl’s Group
Facilitated by Dr. Anna Merrill
First and third Tuesday 02/02/21 – 05/18/21 (4:00PM – 5:00PM) $70/session
This group is for 8-10 year old girls that struggle with social skills. This may include girls with ADHD, behavioral issues, or autism spectrum disorder. The group will be focused on engaging in cooperative social activities and practicing social skills such as taking turns, conflict resolution, and engaging in conversation. This group will be a good fit for girls that are highly socially motivated but struggle to maintain and build healthy social relationships.
SPS (Social Problem Solvers)
Facilitated by Dr. Anna Merrill
Second and fourth Monday 02/22/21 – 05/24/21 (5:00 PM – 6:00 PM) $70/session
This group is designed for 13-16-year-old adolescents with autism spectrum disorder or other social and pragmatic communication challenges. The group will address social cognition through social skill instruction related to relationship development, reciprocal conversation, and social problem solving across contexts. Issues related to technology and social media will be discussed. The group will include interactive games, discussion, and short didactic lessons. Role play and repeated practice of skills with immediate feedback from peers and the facilitator will be used to encourage social skills growth. Group members will have the opportunity to plan their own “party” at group to implement skills learned and facilitate expanding their social network.
Launch into Life
Facilitated by Dr. Anna Merrill
First and third Wednesday 02/17/2021 – 05/19/2021 (5:00PM – 6:00 PM) $70/session
This group is designed for 17-26-year-old young adults with autism spectrum disorder or other social and pragmatic communication challenges. The group will address social cognition through social skill instruction related to friendships and dating, professional communication, and social problem solving across contexts. The members of the group will be encouraged to generate topics for discussion and work together to find answers with help from the facilitator. Interactive discussion, role play, and didactic lessons will be used to facilitate growth. Group members will be encouraged to participate in activities outside of the group at home and in their community and process these experiences within the group context.

SPECTacular Moms
Facilitated by Dr. Sandra Burkhardt
Third Tuesday of every month – 2/16/21, 3/16/21, 4/20/21, 5/18/21 (7:00pm – 8:30pm) $70/session
Best practices suggest that support for caregivers of persons with ASD is an important piece of the ASD puzzle. Dr. Burkhardt has been providing services to families with ASD for over 30 years and has found that peer-support and information sharing is often SO valuable. This group will meet via Go-To-Meeting for telehealth sessions. Group membership is limited to 6 participants.
