With high school graduations just around the corner, it’s a particularly exciting (and stressful) time for seniors with disabilities such as LD or ADHD. Walking across that stage to receive your diploma is a testament to the hard work and extra effort many of these students, families, and their teachers have engaged in over the last four years. While every college is required by law to provide reasonable accommodations to students with documented disabilities, some campuses go the extra step of providing helpful services, too, such as time management workshops, study skills instruction, and weekly appointments with trained staff members who can help students with self-advocacy, staying organized, and mentoring. Click here for a recent list of well-known colleges around the country who go this extra step. It may help with some final decisions or guide the efforts of high school juniors who are investigating their college options now. Remember, too, that CRG offers College Search services and an innovative Gap Year program (for high school graduates who want to use the year before college to refine their reasons for attending college, gain some work experience, and strengthen their independent living skills). Congratulations, graduates!
