Professional Experience
January 2004 to present: Speech-Language Pathologist, Children’s Resource Group, Indianapolis, IN. Independent contractor providing speech-language evaluations and treatment for children and adolescents with a variety of communication, developmental, learning, and emotional difficulties. Collaborate extensively with psychologists, psychiatrists, and clinical nurse specialists.
March 1998 to December 2003: Speech-Language Pathologist, Drexler and Associates, Inc., Indianapolis, IN. Full-time speech-language pathologist in an outpatient rehabilitation center. Evaluated and treated children and adults from birth to teens with a variety of communication disorders, including: articulation, phonology, language, auditory processing, stuttering, childhood apraxia, voice, anomia, and autism spectrum. Supervised clinical fellows in speech-pathology and several speech aides in the Lindamood-Bell programs, provided preschool screenings, and worked extensively with the Fast ForWord programs. Collaborated with occupational and physical therapists, classroom teachers, physicians, and psychologists to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment. Worked extensively with clients’ families.
October 2001 to May 2002: Speech-Language Pathologist, St. Vincent Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. Worked Saturdays as a registry speech-language pathologist in an inpatient children’s hospital. Treated children from birth to teens with a variety of communication and feeding issues. Specific populations included CVA, TBI, premature infants, and dysphagia. Gained experience using passy-muir valves.
Summer 1996: Graduate Assistant, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Under the supervision of Dr. Ellen M. Kelly, assisted in fluency assessments for children; transcribed and analyzed fluency data from parent-child interactions.
October 1997 to January 1998: Intern, Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. As an intern, provided diagnostic and therapy services to inpatient adults and children in an acute care hospital. Specific populations included CVA, dysphagia, and TBI.
August to October 1997: Intern, Oaklandon Elementary, Indianapolis, IN. As an intern, provided screenings, diagnostic testing, and group therapy to 65 children, grades 1-5, with a variety of communication, speech, and language disorders. Wrote IEPs and held parent conferences.
